When you visit our website, we often use cookies to enhance and shape your browsing experience. We do this in order to improve web functionality and to ensure our website helps you in every way it can, while you shop.
A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is placed in your browser settings. Cookies allow us to recognise that you have visited our website before and will perform a number of different functions, depending on the cookie type. (and we don't mean chocolate chip!)
Generally, almost all websites will use cookies when visiting. On our websites in particular, there are four main types of cookie which we use, each performing a slightly different function - all of them used in order to improve your shopping experience.
These cookies allow you to browse our website and use the various features available to you, such as adding items to your basket, and saving items for later. (essential for purchasing items from us!)
These cookies will allow us to remember your chosen preferences, such as location settings (to give you accurate delivery pricing and set the correct currency you see). They're mainly used to ensure your shopping experience is as smooth and as user-friendly as possible. Taking care of the tedious parts of setting up your preferences each time you visit us.
Our web analytics cookies allow us to measure and analyse how and when customers use our website. This helps us to improve functionality and to ensure the best possible shopping experience is offered by us. The data we see includes peak browsing times, most visited pages and browser & device types, among other analytical data. All of which is anonymous and aggregated.
We use these cookies to deliver advertisements that are relevant to you, based on your previous clicks and visited pages. We wouldn't want to target you with an ad for a product completely unrelated to your original visit, this helps us to ensure you see what you want to see. Also, these cookies allow us to limit just how many times you see the advertisement, so you're not bombarded with it all the time - this also helps us to measure how effective our marketing campaigns can be and improve them in future.
All of the above cookies will fall into three cookie groups, each will have different expiry (deletion) times on your browser. Once they're expired they're removed from the browser and it's as if they were never there, the data is destroyed and gone forever.
Cookie group | Which cookies apply? |
Session cookies. | Mainly used by online web stores (like ourselves), allowing the store to keep items in the basket when browsing the website, so you can add multiple items at once. Also used to allow you to perform various functions when using the website, such as saving baskets for later, logging into your account among others. These cookies are set to expire when the browser is closed and are gone when the browser is exited. |
Permanent cookies. | These types of cookie remain in use, even when you have closed your browser or left the website. Often used for remembering things like login details and passwords so you don't have to re-sign in every time you use the website. You will always be asked before we use one of these cookies (You will normally need to allow it yourself). Anytime you see a "Keep me signed in" message, this is likely to be done with the use of a permanent cookie. The law concerning permanent cookies states that they must be deleted after a period of six months. So after this you will need to re-sign in. |
Third-party cookies. | Third-party cookies are usually used by websites with the aim of collecting certain analytical information, to carry out various research into how customers behave on websites and anonymous customer demographic data. We use third-party cookies in order to improve our websites, by finding out what our customers engage with the most and giving you more of what you want. Most third party cookies expire after 30 days. |
If you require any further information on any of the cookies we use on our websites, including each cookie and what it is used for, then please do feel free to contact our team at ecommerce@leadergroup.co.uk and we'll be able to explain in more depth what use each cookie has when browsing our website.
Unfortunately, if you do not allow cookies on your browser, then some key functions on our websites may not work as expected and there may be issues with placing an order. Some of the more essential ordering processes require that cookies are enabled so you may experience difficulty in checking out online.
If you still wish to purchase, but don't wish to allow cookies, then call our team on 01429 241 200 and we'll be able to place an order via the telephone for you.
You can block cookies in any web browser, by activating the setting which allows you to refuse some and/or all cookies. Precisely how cookies are blocked will depend upon the browser that you use. If you would like further information please contact us, or you can follow the handy guide we've put together below. This guide details exactly how to do this on some of the more frequently used web browser software that is available.
